Charlie’s started in Amsterdam in 2014, because Sander de Jonge was looking for an alternative to sugary soft drinks; since 2020 the brand has been called Charlie’s Organics. Sparkling water with real organic fruit and nothing else: no sugar, no sweeteners, no preservatives and no plastic, just the can. In the Netherlands the brand has grown by 72 per cent since 2023, while its category shrank by 21 per cent over the same period.
